Jerez Flamenco
In Jerez the oldest and most traditional churches have lent their names to neighbourhoods steeped in the flamenco tradition, maybe more so than in any other part of Andalusia.
Thus the magnificent church of Santiago gives us the Barrio Santiago, a traditional settlement of the gypsy community and birthplace to countless generations of singers, dancers and guitarists, who still flourish amongst its narrow streets, squares and in the neighbourhood peƱas, as it also happens in the other flamenco quarter, the Barrio San Miguel.
